ESPN's Wide World of Sports

For all of the sports fans out there... this is the post for you! Most Disney-goers may not know about a hidden gem in Walt Disney World. This hidden gem is known as ESPN's Wide World of Sports. This complex is the spring training home to the Atlanta Braves, as well as hundreds of sports competitions throughout each year. I have been fortunate to play and coach at this complex and I wanted to dedicate this post to this amazing facility.

Before I go deeper into this post, I wanted to point out that you must purchase a ticket with water park and more option to be able to get access to the Wide World of Sports. If you are an athlete or coach, Disney usually offers discounted tickets into the complex.

The 220 acre complex has baseball and softball fields, field hockey, soccer, and lacrosse fields, as well as cheerleading venues. They have recently announced that they will be building a brand new facility for cheerleading competitions, as well!

Although the fields are grass, you would never know the difference between them and a turf field because of the beautiful upkeep done by the groundskeepers.

You will find many vendors during each tournament, as well as an ESPN store and restaurant.

I was just recently in Disney, and I coached at a field hockey tournament. We were able to watch the Atlanta Braves practice! It was an amazing experience and it was a very relaxed atmosphere.

If you have big sports fans, or would just like a day off from the parks, I recommend visiting ESPN's Wide World of Sports to experience the fun athletic atmosphere!
